First Baby Photos

Okay, so I know that I am posting this way after the fact and most of you have already seen the photos, but for posterity's sake I will again.
At 25 weeks I went in for another level two ultrasound, we checked all the vital organs, measured him, and watched him yawn. Then the technician said "well he is in a prefect position, let's try this out', magic words and voila there was a 3D ultrasound. Fantastic, we really enjoyed watching him in 3D and I have the pictures to share.

In the Midst of a Baby Tornado

Tuesday July 5, 2011

I am in the middle of a tornado of baby stuff. I am trying to make my registry and between all the stuff the baby websites claim you need (and what is too cute to pass up), I don't even know where to begin. Well I started a list, and thanks to some knowledgeable friends, I believe I am almost ready to begin my registry. But where? Now there is a tornado of places to register at, lol. I think this is supposed to be fun, but it is mostly just a headache.
And now I want to start decorating the baby's room, but I can't decide on a theme or a look or even a color, I don't really like to commit you see. Any suggestions are welcome.

New Date!

Friday, June 24, 2011

I went for a special ultrasound and consultation. I am always happy to get the opportunity to see the baby. And see I did, from every angle possible, even counted the fingers on one of his hands... five (I try to stay ahead, lol) The ultrasound itself took about 45 minutes and they used three different machines. I got to see the heart and the blood flow in the heart, which as you might know has been a concern for me as Demone's daughter has severe heart problems. Everything looked just fine, good thing for those strong Donaldson genes, now if only he gets green eyes : )  The also looked into the brain, we got a visual gender confirmation and the baby yawned in the middle of the ultrasound. They said the baby looks perfect and healthy in every way. Apparently I am the problem, due to surgeries I had to remove tumors and cancer in the past. It seems I have been moved into the high risk category, I feel it is a bit extreme but I am not a doctor. Essentially, there may come a point where I have to cease activity so my cervix doesn't release. And I can no longer have the baby naturally. It's a cesarean for me, which I have my ups and downs about, at least there will be no labor so I will call it a win-win. The big concern is that I could have a uterine rupture if I go into labor, and I have a high possibility of going into premature labor. So the doctors are planning to schedule the cesarean at 37 weeks to avoid risks. Being who I am, I of course tried to negotiate a better date at 38 weeks, but doctors have this nasty little habit of not caring about selfish motivations. But at least the baby will be ok, and I think he will still be a scorpio like his daddy (I feel this will bite me in the arse later on). So enough of the chit chat it's on to the good stuff... photos and the heartbeat, hope you all enjoy!

UP!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Did you ever watch the movie UP! It was a great animated flick, as cute as could be. And there was a dog who would be in mid sentence and blurt out "squirrel" looking in another direction. Well, my husband's funny bone can not be tamed. During our travels today, I commented on how good the scent of coffee was as it wafted passed our noses from the close by Starbucks. Then I repeated that statement and said I wanted some coffee (decaf, of course). I also stated that I was going to get some coffee when we arrived at Target. Then, later on in the Target parking lot, my nose picked up the scent coming from Pappas, and I again commented on how good that smelled.

So my husband started randomly blurting out "food" and pointing. He said my food obsession reminded him of the dog in the movie. Oh jeez, it was funny the first couple times, but after the 20th it got old the he thought he would mix it up by blurting out "villager" and pointing. So I bit him, ok well I tried but he fended me off and started driving so I could no longer mess with him. He is a cruel, cruel man, tsk, tsk. That is ok, I got my payback later. I messed with him trying to bite and tickle him until he jumped too much and fell off the side of the bed. It was really evilly hilarious, even the baby was laughing.

This week in Baby...

Thursday, May 5, 2011

So tomorrow begins my 13th week and my second trimester. I m looking forward to the tales of the wonderful second trimester, all though aside from being very tired and brainless, my first trimester was easy peasy. Fun Facts about the thirteenth week: The baby has forms tiny little finger prints, and it is almost 3" long or the size of a medium shrimp, and it weighs about an ounce. So tiny, it's amazing that all the vital organs are already formed. The baby still wants fruit, I love fruit anyways, but most of the time it seems like that is the only thing that actually appeals to me. We have been scarfing down watermelon and oranges and berry smoothies. I also bought some strawberries a couple days ago, can't wait to eat those. And can I just tell you how wonderful strawberries smell. OMG it has to be the best smell ever.

This week we had two appointments one on Tuesday and one today. Tuesday we went in for screening, it checked for chromosomal disorders like down syndrome and spina bifida amongst others. And they did another test to give me the gender of the baby. The test included another ultrasound, fine by me, just another chance to see what the baby is up to. We watched the baby move around and wave's it's hands and gulp amniotic fluid (that was really cute). We also got to hear the baby's heartbeat, 172 beats/m, sorry I didn't get a chance to record it. I find out all my results next week and I am very excited to discover if it is a boy/girl.  Then I can start picking out names : )

The second appointment was really just an opportunity to get the results back on all my blood tests, I passed with flying colors. Apparently I am going to have a urine test done at every appointment, so I decided to become acquainted with the little strip what the rainbow of colors meant. The bottle of strips was sitting right next to the sink and it had a color coded system to test all kinds of crazy stuff that I can not pronounce. But as I studied it against my test I concluded that everything was good. I test negative for protein, blood and glucose... those I am familiar with, lol. Demoné just looked at me and shook his head then went back to practicing his kanji. My next appointment isn't until next month so I guess I will have to survive without saying hi to the baby for a while. I want my own ultrasound machine : (

Introducing... Jelly Bean

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Today I went to my first pre-natal appointment. Demoné skipped class so he could be there with me, and I was very grateful for the company since we waited for two hours and the total visit took four freaking hours. But it was worth it, because I am so far along, they went ahead and did the first ultrasound, whoo hoooo. I got to meet the baby. He was really active too, turning this way and that, waving at the camera, Demoné swears he was tap dancing and I thought I saw a back flip, lol. The baby is currently 10 weeks and 6 days and he is 4.16 cm and according to the ultrasound his due date is 11-11-11 (i'm psyched). I am attaching a photo of the ultrasound.

Happy Mother's Day!

Tuesday, April 12, 2010

Well I am almost into my second trimester, nine weeks and counting. The quesiness is gone, although I still don't have much of an appetite. And the severe tiredness has significantly decreased, I still have to get a nap during the day but only one : )

So it is time to figure out how to tell everyone that I am pregnant. But before I can tell the world, I have to figure out a special way to tell my mother. She has been waiting for this day for a long time, so I have put some thought and research into it. Here is what I think I am going to do... send her a Mother's Day Card with the word Mother's scratched out and Grandmother's scribbled in with a copy of the first ultrasound. I may also write on the envelope, "sorry, I couldn't afford roses, jewelry, or cruise tickets", then on the inside, "So you'll have to settle for the most precious gift of all. Coming to a hospital near you 11-11-11." Ok, so technically my due date is 11-13-11, but due dates are not all that accurate and I am pretty sure a couple days early will be alright. Besides, it would be a much cooler, easy to remember date ; )  See I'm looking out for you jelly bean.

Anyways, I think it will be perfect, my mom dislikes mother's day because it holds a lot of bad memories for her, now she will have a new, good memory to replace them. For the rest of the world, well there is always Facebook, lol.

This Baby is Going to be a Genius

Friday, April 1, 2011

Because it is sucking every last bit of brain out of me. I had a bunch of exams this week and a paper due. I could not remember anything to save my life. Jeez, I did somehow manage to pass my tests, but it was with a lot of luck and extreme difficulty. I even messed up my paper. For the life of me I could not think of certain words while I was writing, so I put blanks in my paper that way Demoné could go back and fill them in. Wrong! Demoné was busy with his exams and I forgot to have him read the paper, so I stupidly turned it in with blanks. Freaking Awesome, my professor is probably thinking I am a moron right about now. I will have to send her an email, at least she should know I am not a total idiot.

Blah

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

The past few days my appetite has been rather lacking, if I make it halfway through a normal sized portion, I am doing well. This morning has been particularly difficult. "I just wanna eat", I cry out. And my stomach responds "Do it and PUKE". So I feel real crappy. And although my stomach isn't happy about it, I managed to eat half a banana and a waffle this morning, now I am trying to down a tasty little smoothie filled with all kinds of vitamins and antioxidants. Hopefully this situation will get better soon.

One of my most favoritist hobbies

Shopping...
I no longer fit in some of my clothes, jeans that I wore 3 days ago will not fit and here is the great part, I lost a few pounds. That is pretty suckie if I do say so myself, and I did. So today I went to ross and bought a few dresses that I should be able to wear throughout my pregnancy. They are really cute, well my taste anyways, they are all black and one has bright orange designs and one is black and silver and one is black with gold beading.

A rainy day in Houston

Monday, March 14, 2011

We went to the see the doctor today to get official confirmation. It has been a nasty rainy day outside, my pants got soaked up to my knee and I had an umbrella. They gave me the thumbs up and told me I am five weeks along. Jelly Bean's tiny heart is forming this week and will start to beat. I'm excited and going grocery shopping, I plan to buy a whole bunch of fun baby friendly snacks.

One Small Villager...

Sunday, March 13, 2011

We woke up this morning, I rolled over and said to Demoné, "I'm hungry"
He responded, "We will give you one small villager" OMG, I was laughing for hours, right after I punched him.

Later that day...
My brother Paul comes to the house and starts to hand me the remote, yanks his hand away and says "I wanna keep my fingers."
Et Tu Paul, Et Tu.
I bet he wouldn't dare say all that had he known I was pregnant...

Daddy has Jokes

Saturday, March 12, 2011

We spent the whole day running around Houston doing errands. And mid afternoon I was starving so my loving husband told me I could get whatever I wanted ... what I wanted turned out to be many things. I finally settled on Schlotzsky's Deli where I got a small sandwich and pizza. I could not wait to eat, so it was devoured in the car while waiting for Demoné to finish an errand. Then we went to KFC for the men, and I had to have a biscuit and a parfait (which i didn't get). So when we got back in the car, my husband turns to me and says, "Man, you are starving. I better be careful or you might chew my fingers off while i'm sleeping".  Okay so it was funny I will concede to that.
Then we go down the road a bit and he says "Mahari, you watch out around Cathy, your arm is pretty light she might mistake it for a hot dog." And so it continued all day long... but at least he kept me laughing.

Another "not-so-new" addition

Friday, March 11, 2011

We got a new addition to our household, Mahari finally came to live with us permanently. Whoo Hoooo, another helper and future babysitter in the making. He is actually quite helpful because he can lift all the stuff I am not allowed to lift. For those of you who haven't met him, my step-son is the size of many grown men all though he is only twelve. He even has a mustache, we nicknamed him "Mustachio" hahahahaha. Poor kid... But my nephews love him, Bug goes on about "where is Hawee", it is sooo cute. I think Bug decided to give all of us nicknames: Caffy, Uncle Mone, and Hawee, lol.

Breaking News

Tuesday, March 8, 2010

The test came back positive. Although we have been trying for months now, those two little lines were still a bit overwhelming. Two little lines, and we're off ... lol. I found out really late, then I could not sleep. I just wanna tell everyone, but we agreed to wait till after the first trimester, I know it is best but still. Well at least this explains all the weepiness and exhaustion.
Since I can not tell the world yet, I decided to start this blog. It is a journal of our new journey, I hope you all enjoy once you get to see it.
