First Baby Photos

Okay, so I know that I am posting this way after the fact and most of you have already seen the photos, but for posterity's sake I will again.
At 25 weeks I went in for another level two ultrasound, we checked all the vital organs, measured him, and watched him yawn. Then the technician said "well he is in a prefect position, let's try this out', magic words and voila there was a 3D ultrasound. Fantastic, we really enjoyed watching him in 3D and I have the pictures to share.

In the Midst of a Baby Tornado

Tuesday July 5, 2011

I am in the middle of a tornado of baby stuff. I am trying to make my registry and between all the stuff the baby websites claim you need (and what is too cute to pass up), I don't even know where to begin. Well I started a list, and thanks to some knowledgeable friends, I believe I am almost ready to begin my registry. But where? Now there is a tornado of places to register at, lol. I think this is supposed to be fun, but it is mostly just a headache.
And now I want to start decorating the baby's room, but I can't decide on a theme or a look or even a color, I don't really like to commit you see. Any suggestions are welcome.

New Date!

Friday, June 24, 2011

I went for a special ultrasound and consultation. I am always happy to get the opportunity to see the baby. And see I did, from every angle possible, even counted the fingers on one of his hands... five (I try to stay ahead, lol) The ultrasound itself took about 45 minutes and they used three different machines. I got to see the heart and the blood flow in the heart, which as you might know has been a concern for me as Demone's daughter has severe heart problems. Everything looked just fine, good thing for those strong Donaldson genes, now if only he gets green eyes : )  The also looked into the brain, we got a visual gender confirmation and the baby yawned in the middle of the ultrasound. They said the baby looks perfect and healthy in every way. Apparently I am the problem, due to surgeries I had to remove tumors and cancer in the past. It seems I have been moved into the high risk category, I feel it is a bit extreme but I am not a doctor. Essentially, there may come a point where I have to cease activity so my cervix doesn't release. And I can no longer have the baby naturally. It's a cesarean for me, which I have my ups and downs about, at least there will be no labor so I will call it a win-win. The big concern is that I could have a uterine rupture if I go into labor, and I have a high possibility of going into premature labor. So the doctors are planning to schedule the cesarean at 37 weeks to avoid risks. Being who I am, I of course tried to negotiate a better date at 38 weeks, but doctors have this nasty little habit of not caring about selfish motivations. But at least the baby will be ok, and I think he will still be a scorpio like his daddy (I feel this will bite me in the arse later on). So enough of the chit chat it's on to the good stuff... photos and the heartbeat, hope you all enjoy!

UP!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Did you ever watch the movie UP! It was a great animated flick, as cute as could be. And there was a dog who would be in mid sentence and blurt out "squirrel" looking in another direction. Well, my husband's funny bone can not be tamed. During our travels today, I commented on how good the scent of coffee was as it wafted passed our noses from the close by Starbucks. Then I repeated that statement and said I wanted some coffee (decaf, of course). I also stated that I was going to get some coffee when we arrived at Target. Then, later on in the Target parking lot, my nose picked up the scent coming from Pappas, and I again commented on how good that smelled.

So my husband started randomly blurting out "food" and pointing. He said my food obsession reminded him of the dog in the movie. Oh jeez, it was funny the first couple times, but after the 20th it got old the he thought he would mix it up by blurting out "villager" and pointing. So I bit him, ok well I tried but he fended me off and started driving so I could no longer mess with him. He is a cruel, cruel man, tsk, tsk. That is ok, I got my payback later. I messed with him trying to bite and tickle him until he jumped too much and fell off the side of the bed. It was really evilly hilarious, even the baby was laughing.

This week in Baby...

Thursday, May 5, 2011

So tomorrow begins my 13th week and my second trimester. I m looking forward to the tales of the wonderful second trimester, all though aside from being very tired and brainless, my first trimester was easy peasy. Fun Facts about the thirteenth week: The baby has forms tiny little finger prints, and it is almost 3" long or the size of a medium shrimp, and it weighs about an ounce. So tiny, it's amazing that all the vital organs are already formed. The baby still wants fruit, I love fruit anyways, but most of the time it seems like that is the only thing that actually appeals to me. We have been scarfing down watermelon and oranges and berry smoothies. I also bought some strawberries a couple days ago, can't wait to eat those. And can I just tell you how wonderful strawberries smell. OMG it has to be the best smell ever.

This week we had two appointments one on Tuesday and one today. Tuesday we went in for screening, it checked for chromosomal disorders like down syndrome and spina bifida amongst others. And they did another test to give me the gender of the baby. The test included another ultrasound, fine by me, just another chance to see what the baby is up to. We watched the baby move around and wave's it's hands and gulp amniotic fluid (that was really cute). We also got to hear the baby's heartbeat, 172 beats/m, sorry I didn't get a chance to record it. I find out all my results next week and I am very excited to discover if it is a boy/girl.  Then I can start picking out names : )

The second appointment was really just an opportunity to get the results back on all my blood tests, I passed with flying colors. Apparently I am going to have a urine test done at every appointment, so I decided to become acquainted with the little strip what the rainbow of colors meant. The bottle of strips was sitting right next to the sink and it had a color coded system to test all kinds of crazy stuff that I can not pronounce. But as I studied it against my test I concluded that everything was good. I test negative for protein, blood and glucose... those I am familiar with, lol. Demoné just looked at me and shook his head then went back to practicing his kanji. My next appointment isn't until next month so I guess I will have to survive without saying hi to the baby for a while. I want my own ultrasound machine : (
